Blue Thumb Project exists to support the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay through simple, everyday products.
We believe restoration shouldn’t feel distant or complicated.
It should be something people can be part of—
simply, consistently, and honestly.
What We’re Working Toward
We focus on rebuilding the natural systems that keep the Bay healthy:
- Oyster reefs that filter water and create habitat
- Seagrass meadows that support marine life and stabilize the ecosystem
These systems once worked together at scale.
Restoring them is one of the most effective ways to improve water quality and bring the Bay back over time.
Why it matters
The Chesapeake Bay supports:
- Fisheries and local economies
- Coastal communities and working waterfronts
- Thousands of species of marine life
But over time, pollution, habitat loss, and overharvesting have disrupted that balance.
